Minutes – Toronado and Aurora Chapter Meeting

OCA National Meet, Albuquerque, NM – July 21, 2017

The annual Membership Meeting of the Toronado and Aurora Chapter convened at 4:00 PM in the Las Cruces Room of the Marriott Pyramid North Conference Center. The meeting was attended by approximately 20 individuals, of which about half were TAC members.

Per our usual practice, the meeting started with all attendees introducing themselves, including brief summaries of their Toronado/Aurora involvement. One told of his recent “barn” find of a ’66 Toro that had been parked for 41 years – it is mostly original, but did need a lot of clean-up, with more to come. Another told of almost losing their “beloved” ’66 Toro in a front-end accident – they managed to preserve the car through use of a ’67 donor car; they were told the parts were interchangeable (which they are), but in the process they now have a ‘66/’67 hybrid.

For the Business Meeting, minutes of last year’s meeting were read, with no additions or corrections. I reported a current balance in the Treasury as $1539.96 – this represents a loss of a little over $100 compared to last year, so it would seem the recent dues increase to $18 per year has improved our financial status, and we appear solvent for the time being.

As to Old Business, I indicated that the T-shirt project is still under development by Jeff Draugelis, including some financial constraints. About this time, Jerry Wilson dropped in as he often does – he offered that we should make sure to enlist help from the OCA merchandise vendor, GMPhotoGifts. They might be able to help us with this project.

Jerry also offered that he and the OCA Board are open to providing any assistance that might help us in building and strengthening the Chapter. This includes the possibility of contacting the Toronado Owners Association to explore possibilities to the mutual benefit of both Toro clubs.

As to New Business, I told of recently being asked by a member when we might be having another election. I responded that an election has not even been discussed recently, especially since we unaware of any individuals that might be interested in running for office, to replace any of the current officers. I also said if there was any such interest, contact should be made to Jeff or myself.

Next, Dan Gulino offered that he had been in contact with Trent and Jeff regarding doing some website work for the Chapter. As part of recently purchasing a ’78 Toronado XS and starting its restoration, he researched our Chapter and noticed the website could (really) use some updating. Dan has experience with social media, and hence his volunteering. Meeting attendees agreed with his “appointment” and added that FaceBook should also be explored. This ended the Business Meeting.

We next moved into our usual follow-up of informal discussion. The only subject brought up was a continuation of last year’s discussion about ’92 motor mounts. The NORS part is definitely incorrect. Instead, it was suggested that a Cadillac ElDorado motor mount possibly can be used, but with modifications to the mount and/or frame.

The Meeting adjourned at approximately 5:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Paul Andreas, Secretary-Treasurer
